U.S. Financial Management, Inc., a debt settlement/negotiation company, is seeking a motivated individual with strong general ledger and accounts reconciliation skills to join our accounting department as a Staff Accountant in a fast-paced growing business environment located in the heart of Mission Valley. Successful candidate must be able to multi-task with strong organizational, analytical and problem solving kills; detail oriented, must have accounting knowledge or experience, and must be a team player.
Position Responsibilities
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly. Work up from source documents to general ledger including account analysis and adjusting journal entries.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly to their related subsidiary ledgers and resolve reconciling items accordingly.
- Audit and review accounts payable are charged to appropriate GL accounts. Ensure timely payments of vendor invoices, expense reimbursements and check requests while maintaining accurate records and controls.
- Implement A/P process improvements to improve efficiency and strengthen controls.
- Fixed asset ledger maintenance and reporting.
- Assist with supervising three accounting clerks.
- Recommend, design, and implement any necessary department controls and procedures.
- Performs other duties or projects as required.
Qualification/Requirements:
- Must be proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Ten-Key. Knowledge of Access is a plus.
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable functions.
- Ability to make independent judgments, which have considerable impacts on the department.
- Individual should be deadline driven and posses and ability to motivate and communicate effectively with staff.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum Associates Degree in accounting or college accounting courses (sufficient accounting or related experience may be substituted). Bachelors Degree in Accounting is a plus.
- Two- three years of experience performing accounting operations work such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounts reconciliation, journal entry, and working with payroll records is a plus.
